Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a prosthetic device that is used to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge consists of two or more dental crowns on either side of the gap where the missing tooth or teeth once were, with an artificial tooth or teeth (called a pontic) attached in between.

Dental bridges can be made from a variety of materials, including porcelain, ceramic, metal, or a combination of materials. Your dentist will recommend the best type of bridge for your individual needs based on factors such as the location of the missing tooth or teeth, the condition of the surrounding teeth and gums, and your budget. The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves two or more visits to the dentist.

First Visit

During the first visit, the abutment teeth (the teeth on either side of the gap) will be prepared by removing a portion of their enamel to make room for the crowns that will support the bridge. An impression of the teeth will be taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the bridge will be custom-made to fit your teeth precisely. A temporary bridge may be placed over the prepared teeth to protect them while the permanent bridge is being made.

Second Visit

During the second visit, the permanent bridge will be cemented onto the prepared teeth using a special adhesive. The dentist will check the fit and color of the bridge to ensure that it looks and feels natural.

Dental bridges can provide a long-lasting solution for missing teeth and can help to improve the appearance and function of your smile.

It is important to maintain good oral hygiene habits and to visit your dentist regularly to ensure that your bridge remains in good condition and your teeth and gums remain healthy.
